Norwegian Cruise Line

MS Norwegian Dream

Your Rating:Four Stars
Reviewed by: D. Carlson
# previous cruises: 10+
Date of Trip: July 23, 2001
Itinerary: Baltic/Black Sea/Russia

Overview
Very good ship and crew, great itinerary. This ship could achieve the status earned by the Norwegian Crown. We feel the Norwegian Crown was the best cruise ship in the business.

Public Areas
Very clean and comfortable. Ship has an excellent layout, all public areas and exterior are readily accessible. Nice casino with helpful, friendly staff. The Norwegian Dream is considerably better than the Norwegian Sky in layout and accessibility.

Food and Service
Freestyle dining is great. We highly recommend it. The little buffet at the sports bar was too small and too crowded with inadequate dining area. The three other dining rooms were quite comfortable and in general had very good service. We ate once in the Le Bistro and were not impressed enough to pay extra for meals that were not as good as the main dining rooms. The Terrace dining room has an outstanding view and serves very good Italian food. Good Barbeque on deck most days.

Cabins
Very crowded in the Star Deck Suite (AD). Very little storage space. Refrigerator could be replaced with drawer space. Only three drawers (in closet). All shelves were in the closets. If the sofa, two easy chairs and coffee table were removed and a little storage space added, this would have been a wonderful cabin. The bed location dictated a walk space around the foot of the beds of about one foot width to access the sitting area at the window.

Entertainment
Cruise staff and entertainment was very good. They maintain the reputation of Norwegian Cruise Line very well.

Activities
Two days in London at the Tower Hotel - Next to Tower Bridge and London Tower. Then to Dover to board Norwegian Dream. Kiel canal to Warnemunde/Rostok, Germany; then Talinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark; thence back to Dover for transport to Gatwick Airport.

Who Goes
In general this was an older quieter crowd. Fair number of Europeans. Everyone got along very well. Few children.
