Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
The first time we've been on a cruise; 3 of our 4 children came along (the oldest is 21 and wasn't able to come with us; the youngest [twins] aged 14 and elder sister aged 18 accompanied us).

We all had a magnificent time on board the Emerald; the staff were all very attentive; rooms were excellent as were the shows and all other manners of entertainment.

Public Areas
Pool was a little small - but otherwise all other areas were very clean (and despite being in the middle of the summer holidays) always seemed spacious; we never felt that we were on "op of anyone".

Food and Service
Excellent; whether we had the sit down meal or the buffet.

Cabins
Our rooms were very comfortable and spacious; my wife and i in one; the three children in the other. The shower was good - but could have been better - however, considering the age of the ship and the plumbing we can't complain. I have been into many "top-class"hotels in London where the Emerald's shower and bath would put them to shame.

Entertainment
The entertainment was fabulous; the actors/actresses and all entertainers were all worth their weight in gold.

Activities
Stooped at Brindisi (quite good); Ravenna (extremely poor); Trieste and Venice - (both excellent) as were Split and Corfu. Dubrovnik was very good - but the weather was too hot to really enjoy it.

Most of the time onboard was spent sunbathing / reading / drinking.

Who Goes
Our fellow travellers were very nice and we would invite them for dinner - but the live 350 miles away. Although older than us by 20 yrs or so, they had their grandson with them who was our twins age and we all got on very well together.

The staff weree exceptional in their mannercourteousnesss and attentiveness.
