Itinerary: Orient

Overview
First time cruisers, we were very impressed with cabin service, cleanliness, entertainment, information supplied, shore trips, and food. Could not fault the friendliness and helpfulness of the Filipino crew looking after us.

Public Areas
Public areas excellent whether it be buffet at Marriners Restaurant or sit-down meal at Ocean Palace. All lounges different but comfortable especially Gemini Bar/Lounge. Pool looked quite small and too many people to use it to be comfortable but we swam on trips ashore. Casino probably adequate for size of ship but poker machines could be more up to date with varied denominations of money for betting. Also seemed very bad payers compared to clubs in Sydney.

Food and Service
Again restaurants were varied, sometimes bar-b-que on Pool Deck, usually buffet at Mariners which had tiered seating on different levels, both inside and outside (excellent). Ocean Palace was a pleasure to dine in, service, food excellent also.

Cabins
Executive suite a good size, adequate storage space. Shower space adequate also. My husband is quite big and he did not have trouble having comfortable shower. Airconditioning excellent, not noisy. Cabin very quiet.

Entertainment
Attended entertainment most nights in Galaxy Lounge. Again plenty of variety and good standard of entertainment.

Activities
No children so no information there. Plenty of shore trips to cater for sighseers and shoppers alike. Transport and organisation for shore trips was well done and efficient. Always plenty of security and staff to look after us.

Who Goes
Seemed mostly English, Australian and New Zealanders so plenty in common with other passengers. My two sisters travelled with us, they had a deluxe cabin and loved the trip as much as we did. They would upgrade to better cabin next time but would definitely travel with Star Cruises again.
