My parents took this ship when it was the Gripsholm in 1953 They traveled from Bremerhaven to New York. It was the sister ship of the Stockholm, which was docked in Vancouver B.C during the 86 World's Fair. The ship was very comfortable. It was beautiful! It was decorated and decked out like a castle.

The ship did have a problem when it ran into a big storm. It lost use of one of it's propellers. We could not travel over the waves but along the waves. The New York papers were full. They were looking for the ship. They kept us very calm. Did not know what had happened till after we arrived. We arrived safely in New York late 3 days late.

The food service and the food was excellent!

The cabin was small and we had to share a shower. But it all was very clean. The staff were very cordial and helpful.

There was a movie you could watch. There was a pool. There were dances.

There was a pool. There were dances. Who Goes : The passengers were good. Most of them came from Finland, Norway, Sweden and Germany. They all went to different places. We traveled the furthest distance after we arrived.
