Itinerary: Caribbean - Western

Overview
This was our first cruise and it was absolutely wonderful. We were not sure whether we would like cruising, but VOYAGER convinced us that cruising is for us. We had been nervous about dress, about feeling crowded and/or herded, but Voyager was the right blend of 'casual sophistication". Who could believe that with 3500 passengers you could always find quiet spots on board. The only word to describe the whole vacation is WONDERFUL.

Public Areas
We loved the early morning strolls on deck and going to the Windjammer for breakfast. There was such a sense of calm at this time of day. At night, High Notes was a wonderful place for a drink. The lounges are all comfortable and were never crowded. I can't say enough about the Royal Promenade - it was a lovely gathering place and an area to watch the world go by.

Food and Service
We ate in the dining room every night because we really liked the people at our table. The food was good quality, but not lavish. We enjoyed all that we ate. There was a midnight buffet, but as dinner didn't end for us until 10:15 p.m. we just took photographs. Service was very good. I nearly forgot - Cafe Promenade makes the most incredible cookies.

Cabins
We had a DA cabin on deck 8 AFT, close to the elevators. The cabins were quiet and very well constructed. I loved the shower with the curved door, giving plenty of space. It was super to have a balcony and sit there in the afternoon with a cup of tea brought by room service, or to watch the next port looming in the distance early in the morning.

Entertainment
The ice show is incredible, the Broadway and the Farewell shows in La Scala are also excellent. Our cruise director was Jeff Martin. What a great guy! Very funny and easy going. No wonder the entertainment on Voyager is so good.

Activities
My 13 year old disappeared all day with the other teens she met, there was so much arranged for them. We loved Labadee and the trip to Tulum and Xel Ha from Cozumel. In Ocho Rios we stayed on board and then wandered into town. I loved that day because it was so peaceful.

Who Goes
The people on board were super. Most were families with children ranging from 6-18. This was just the right group for us. I would definitely invite our dinner table friends over to our house.
