Itinerary: Mexico-Western

Overview
My son and I went on the Viking Serenade 4 day Baja cruise for his 14th birthday, and we BOTH had a great time. They had a lot of activities for the teens, that left free time for me. It also kept the ship from being over run with kids on their own! We enjoyed the dining room service most of all, the food was great, and we plan to take this cruise again in the near future. Fun for adults and teens.

Public Areas
The pool and pool side area are quite small, but sufficient for the amount of passengers. My son liked the teen center at night. Had a blast. I like the quiet intimate setting of the piano bar.

Food and Service
We used the buffet a couple of times for breakfast outside. It was nice, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. Dinners were in the Magic Flute dining room. Food was excellent, and the service even better. We couldn't have hoped for better service!

Cabins
The cabin was small but adequate. ONE full size person could use the shower, but you wouldn't want to share it! The cabin steward was terrific. Did not have to ask for anything. Always had it in order, ice bucket full, etc. We seldom heard any sounds from outside the cabin.

Entertainment
We had NO complaints about any of the staff. They were all very friendly, and professional. The shows were top notch, and on the roughest night, they had a juggler who actually managed to persevere through what some people were having trouble walking through!!

Activities
There's a lot of shore excursions available at every port. We did Sea World in San Diego, Glass bottom boats and bus tour on Catalina and the Folklorico festival and shopping in Ensenada. Next time we plan on staying on the ship. The excursions were fun, but we felt we missed a lot by leaving the ship.

Who Goes
Other passengers were friendly. Son made friends with several kids. I didn't keep contact with any passengers from the ship, but did with one of the crew. Great people!
