Royal Caribbean International

MV Rhapsody of the Seas

Your Rating:Three Stars

Itinerary: Orient

Overview
Generally good. Interesting itinerary. Good mix of nationalities. Food good but not exceptional. Worst point, booked 2 back to back cruises but, R. Caribbean found it impossible to allocate us one stateroom for both legs of cruise even though there were less than 1500 guests out of maximum 2500 on both cruises-Unbelievable.

Public Areas
Good. Centrum area attractive but busy as through route. Same with the Schooner bar. Good views from Windjammer cafe, especially when entering port etc. Pool area, solarium and gym all adequate for 1500 guests. Can't say if ship full.

Food and Service
Dinner in main restaurant good but not fantastic. Service friendly, but not always efficient. Breakfast service not so good.

Windjammer cafe had good selection but could be very busy even with only 1500 guests Cabins

Cabins
Cabin was good. Big bed and shower by European standard. Closet space good. Quiet. Clean. Regularly serviced. Attendant had a habit of calling my wife "Honey". We did suggest Gill, or Mrs. Howell, or even "Oi" but no, "Honey" it had to be. Strange!

Entertainment
We are not big entertainment takers but most of it was quite enjoyable.

Activities
Itinerary good. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, China. Shore exc'ns expensive and not all well thought out. Info at desk was just a "sell trip" attitude. More open info about taxi availability, free shuttles etc. came from C' Director Matt. We felt we were conned more than once. As others did.

Who Goes
Very pleasant mix of Chinese (HK), Japanese, Brits, Oz, NZ, Sth African, North American and more. Lots of kids with Chinese and Japanese, but well behaved. Wide age spread from families to retired with plenty of in betweens. Not many teenagers.
