Itinerary: Mexico-Western

Overview
The ship was old and didn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer ships. Overall the cruise was comfortable with a sense of elegance. We did have some problems with drink waiters not able to speak english and didn't get our drink order right several times.

Public Areas
The public areas were open and wide enough for people to lounge around and still enough room to get through. Most of the decoration was very well matched with the surrounding and kept the sense of elegance and formal decor.

Food and Service
Formal dinning was excellent but the mid day snack in the Windjammer Lounge never changed and you could only eat so many tacos on a Mexican Riviera cruise. Room service menu was also limited and only a minimum amount of special orders were granted most were answered with "sorry" or we don't have that. One morning they ran out of orange juice for breakfast - not good...

Cabins
Our room was very nice with a balcony. The closet space could have been bigger since you have to stow your luggage inside also. The shower was small and if you dropped something and had to pick it up you were left hanging out in the open (even for a normal size person). Not much stationary goodies and the price for Evian water at $3.50 per quart was a little steep.

Entertainment
The shows were small and often limited to a one man show without and opening shows. There were a few broadway type shows but was limited. The space in the Aweigh lounge was very spacious and the leg room was very generous.

Activities
You must visit the solarium. The lounge area was very nice listening to the water in the pool wash the sides was very soothing. The ice cream bar was a creature comfort worth visiting once (or twice).

Who Goes
Everyone we met was very nice and experienced cruisers. They all shared their experience with us and had some great stories to tell. Although most were older then us (38 and 40). We did enjoy the feeling of being with a sophisticated crowd. We would invite all the people we met to a home dinner with us - nice people.
