Itinerary: Mexico-Western

Overview
We cruise to relax and the ship is usually our destination. We picked Princess for this trip because my parents were joining us and they are a bit more quiet than most. I figured that the more sedate surroundings of a Princess ship was more their taste and I was right. As usual, Princess provided a nice vacation at a fair price.

Public Areas
The outside Promenade was one of my favorite spots, it is about the only place that will remind you that you are on the water rather than at some hotel. The public areas were comfortable, but indistinguishable. To tell the honest truth...I cannot remember any of them. At least I don't have unpleasant memories.

Food and Service
The coffee is still awful. But we are from the Northwest, where good coffee is important. Food was better than average, but the bread was to die for. Princess has absolutely the best bread of any line. The constant buffet was good and they finally have someone manning the beverage machines during busy hours to prevent the machines from going dry as they did on the Grand two years ago... We had Personal Choice Dining, but ended up eating at about the same time every day, so I wonder if it was worth it. I found I missed having the same wait staff every day as you do with standard seating. We did not try the extra cost "Grill" restaurant.

Cabins
We had a balcony cabin, it seemed a little smaller than some of the other balcony cabins we've had. The closet space was limited. We travel light, so it wasn't a problem for us, but if you are a clothes horse you'll have a problem. The overall decoration was good, but not particularly exciting or memorable.

Entertainment
Entertainment was standard. The good news is that with the combination of Personal Choice Dining and regular hours, the crowds waiting for shows did not happen. Plus you could enter the room before the show rather than wait in the corridors like a herd of cattle. Great movies...almost first run, to enjoy either in the beautiful theatre or on your TV.

Activities
This was the standard Mexican Riviera trip...Western Mexico is always fun. There is something for everyone.

Who Goes
They seemed like a nice group, we stay pretty much to ourselves since our vacations are about the only time we can share without interruptions. There was less 'saving' of lounges and seats than usual.
