Princess Cruise Line

MS Grand Princess

Your Rating:Three Stars

Date of Trip: March 14, 1999
Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
Grand Princess has poor designing in the dining area. Directly outside of the Michelangelo dining room is a large bar with smokers everywhere and their cigarette smoke is pulled straight into this dining area where people are trying to eat a meal with their family. This makes for a terrible experience and is equally bad for everyone's health. Consideration should have been given to non-smokers, however none was extended. It certainly appears that the cruise line thought only of another way to make another BUCK by putting a bar in this location.

Public Areas
Most comfortable areas I have ever seen on a ship. Rivals my own home in comfort. The only exception is the obnoxious smoking directly in front of dining rooms. The stern of the ship on the top level was most relaxing for myself and my wife; very quite and private. All the pools are fantastic; very clean and well-maintained.

Food and Service
The food was the best we have ever had on all of our previous cruises. (I would not tell my wife but the food on ship was even better than hers).

Cabins
We had an expensive cabin but I must say it was rather small for the price we paid and compared to other ships we have cruised on. The cabin steward however did a marvelous job in keeping the place clean and tidy. You would think a ship called The GRAND Princess would have a GRAND living area for their patrons but this isn't reality in this case. The room was exceptionally quite and peaceful and always afforded us wonderful sleep at night. The showers were not large at all. If you weigh over 250 pounds, forget about a good shower. Of course if you're over 250 pounds you don't need a cruise, you need a health farm.

Entertainment
FIRST CLASS shows and entertainment. Some of the best shows you'll ever see. The staff was superior at all times.

Activities
If you love to shop you'll LOVE ST. Thomas and St. Martin. Great bargains.......................

Who Goes
Wonderful group of folks, from all the corners of the world. I would love to have them all as neighbors.
