Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
It's been 28 years since I sailed. The ship is huge, you can get lost. The trip was absolutely wonderful. Weather was blissful. Staff was very personable, friendly, helpful. Dining staff (evening) was especially friendly, courteous, well-mannered. They MADE the trip! So much to do on board. I would like to have gone another 7 days!

Public Areas
I liked the Explorer's lounge where I spent a great deal of my time (art auctions). All public areas were neat, clean and attended to by well-skilled staff. We all felt like the stair areas could be better marked, on the landings. Not enough directional signs to know what floor you were on. Maybe arrows pointing to "this way to vista lounge" or something. It was a big confusing. Another thing, we thought is disrespectful for people to wear shorts in the evening at the dining rooms when everyone was dressed "correctly." It was stated how to dress and I think it should be underlined that "no shorts will be allowed" in the dining rooms (and stick with it).

Food and Service
Par excellence! I can't say enough about the evening meals. They were splendid. Suitable selections. What you didn't see on the menu you could request. Meals cooked to perfection. No one goes away hungry. Desserts were absolutely to die for. The Lido deck buffet had many, many selections to choose from. Again, food was prepared to perfection. I would have liked "cold" juice, not luke warm. That seemed to be served that way all the time.

Cabins
Cabin was plentiful. We could maneuver easily. Beds were extremely comfortable (which I didn't expect). Some noise in the hall from "rude" guests or children now and then. That's not really preventable. Overall, very quiet.

Entertainment
Yes, saw quite a few. One thing is that I didn't get to see some of the shows I wanted to see because other shows were going on at the same time. This is a downer for me. I missed some I wanted to see because of scheduling (same times). Marty Allen (one I missed but hubby didn't) was outstanding; the comedian on board was very good; the ventriloquist was excellent; very talented. The singing and dancing were show quality.

Activities
Stopped at St. Thomas (ship's perception of good bargains differs from ours). We found liquor on St. Maarten better than St. Thomas. A bottle of Absolute, for instance, was $6. I shopped for linens on St. Thomas (a good bargain). I did think that the jewelry was high and saw no deals there (everyone's budget is different). St. Maarten as I said had better liquor bargains. I think the jewelry on board was the best deal going. Princess Cays was ok. I got off just to see it, but I also picked up a bargain cover up for our daughter (which I bargained to get it cheaper) out of the back of a car (not in the usual Tiki hut). I didn't eat any of the food that was prepared for us because I saw too many flies having a heyday on the fruit, cheese, desserts, hamburgers, etc. Someone should be covering up the food or something.

Who Goes
I was with all family so I didn't socialize much with other passengers.
