Itinerary: Caribbean - Western

Overview
I have returned from the Grand Princess in amazement. She is the greatest ship I have ever been on, even though of the high number of passengers you never feel crowded always a lot of room everywhere.A cruise on the Grand Princess is a cruise of a lifetime!

Public Areas
Indoor public areas were very attractive. The ship lacked the grand atrium of other large vessels but they sell this as trying to achieve a "small ship" image. The theater was designed in a way that you look into the ceiling if you sit in the balcony section. The outside of the ship was designed like an obstacle course. In attempting to achieve the "small ship" image, the deck is blocked into sections which you have to zig zag around to get around the ship. Casino was very nice. Pools were nice.

Food and Service
Service was wonderful in dining room but food was mediocre at best. This was unanimous to all eight of us at our table. The late nite fare was ridiculous. They keep a dining room open but they serve very heavy, salty meals.

Cabins
Cabins were nicely appointed and slightly larger than similar Royal Caribbean rooms but poorly designed. The room we were in had a loud creaking sound. After several people checked into it, they finally gave us another room. The other room also had a slight creaking sound but was much better. Never experienced this on any other ships. Bad design.

Entertainment
The "Entertainment" on this ship was as if their whole organization quit and they bought out the cheesiest vegas lounge acts they could find. One comedian (Billy Vader) was pretty funny, the other guy (Marty something) was big in the sixty's but not very good. Even worse, his wife is a country singer and they gave her the stage as well. If your over 50, the entertainment might be enjoyable to you, otherwise, go to another line.

Activities
The tours were well run and well organized. We couldn't get of in the keys because of rough water. The pools were nice. The casino was nice but the staff there was not the friendliest. Their daily magazine which lists shipboard activities is poorly laid out and hard to navigate.

Who Goes
The passengers we met were very nice. We still keep in touch via email with them. If they are ever in the neighborhood we would certainly want to see them and if we travel to their neck of the woods we will definitely visit. If I can be of assistance or if you have questions about my review feel free to write.
