P&O Cruises

MV Victoria

Your Rating:Three Stars
Reviewed by: Jackie S.
# previous cruises: 3
Date of Trip: April 6, 2001
Itinerary: Europe

Overview
The Victoria cruises are aimed at an older market. The average age is 60+. Therefore the entertainment and facilities are aimed at this age group. This is disappointing if you do not fall into this category.

Public Areas
The pools were awful. The outdoor pools were unfilled for three and four days respectively, and then too cold to swim in. The indoor pool was filled on the second day but dark and dingy. The public areas on the whole were good. The deck spaces were good and pleasant. The lido outdoor restaurant was very good.

Food and Service
The waiting service was excellent in the main dining room, excellent and attentive wine waiter and waiting staff. The reception staff however found it difficult to respond to problems, ie. when would the pools be filled?, each day was answered with 'tomorrow'. Food was excellent.

Cabins
Closet space, shower/bath, very good. We had a stateroom on the outside, and there was plenty of room. It was a quiet place, midships. The staterooms are small in comparison with the newer P&O ships.

Entertainment
Show staff were excellent and professional. This was a comedy cruise, but aimed at an older market and not funny for us. There were three excellent acts though, John Lenahan, Elizabeth Hayes, Colin Areety, which we enjoyed very much. No cable TV. Excellent film programme, well projected on this cruise.

Activities
Pools, jacuzzi and sauna facility was poor. Stopped at Cadiz, Casablanca, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuertevenura, Madeira and Vigo. A good mixture of ports for the time of year. Indoor activities were the same old, napkin folding, paper crafts, learn how to ballroom dance type itineraries. Did not go on any trips, explored on our own.

Who Goes
75+ in age group. We met two couples who were very nice and about the only ones in our age group and yes would invite them over if they were nearby.
