Itinerary: South Pacific

Overview
The Pacific Sky, formerly Sky Princess has finally bought a better standard of cruising for the Australian public. This ship is a big improvement on what we've had till now. With Nine bars, 3 pools and lots of deck space, She gives Australians real value for your struggling Australian dollar.

Public Areas
The showroom has been changed from a lounge style to cinema type seating with a fold away drinks tray in every seat. this is to fit more people in , but it works well. the old piano lounge is now the Sports "legends " bar . filled with aussie sports memorabilia, is a good spot for the younger travellers to meet for a drink. For the older travellers the horizon lounge is a good place to sit an watch the view from the many windows that look out over the front of the ship. The casino has all new poker machines , plus 3 black jack , and 2 roulette tables . It was a very busy place at night, but roomy. With nine bars in all it wasn't that hard to get a drink.

Food and Service
There are 2 dining rooms on board , plus a buffet serving breakfast and lunch. We found it better to go to the dining room for lunch because it got hard to find a seat at the buffet. The service in the dining rooms was very good. the staff tried hard to please everybody. The meals where very good, with new menus every day. with 2 entree's , a soup , a salad , 3 choices of main meal , 2 desserts plus fruit or a cheese plate there was something for everybody. Even a vegetarian menu. There's also a pizzaria which was always busy , plus a "Harrys cafe de waves" selling the famous Sydney pies and pies.

Cabins
We found our cabin very roomy. we had 4 closets or wardrobes as we call them , with plenty of coat hangers. we found the shower to be a good size but hard to find the right balance between hot and cold on the one handle taps. The T.V was good , but to many american channels ,and not enough Australian content. Overall were very happy.

Entertainment
The entertainment on the Pacific Sky was very good. the resident singers and dance troop did four very different shows over the 10 days of the trip. All 4 shows where a credit to the singers and dancers. There was also comedian on one night who was "OK". And a magician show which was quite good.

Activities
There was plenty to do on board , our day started around 7am and didn't finish till very late at night. With 2 adult pools , and one kids pool , a gym and a huge spa , 2 kids clubs and 1 for teenagers everybody was catered for. the child care workers where fabulous and seemed to really care about the kids. As for ports of call , Port villa was great . Cheap duty free Grog. cheap t shirts and islander type stuff your wife and kids like to buy. A must is a visit to the Cascades great place for a cool off swim. "tip" hire a local mini bus out side the dock gates and barter a price of a day trip around Vila including cascades. Mystery island lovely place to snorkel round , lots of tropical fish and coral to see. The isle of pines, is very pretty place. good snorkeling also around the sacred rock very nice beaches. people not so friendly. Noumea "tip" do a trip some where as its a boring place to walk around.

Who Goes
Anybody, the young the not so young ,and families. something for everybody.
