It was a wonderful treat to travel on the Canberra before she was
taken out of service. She truly was a classic ship!
Most public rooms were comfortable considering the age of the
ship. However, the smoking was very noticeable due to the low ceilings.
The Meridian lounge forward was a favourite as well as the walk around
promenade deck.
Food was good - typically English rather than typically
cruise like. Afternoon tea in the Island Buffet was a real treat. Also the curries were popular. Service was very good.
The cabin reflected the age of the ship. It was small but adequate.
The shows put on by the cruise staff were very good.
Individual performers were either excellent (Diane Cousins) or pretty
pathetic! So bad I can't remember them!!! The staff were very friendly and entertaining. The nightly quizzes were never missed!
We stopped in Acapulco but didn't get off the ship. Also
stopped in Bonaire which was wonderful, Grenada which was interesting and Barbados which was quite beautiful. Madeira looked nice but I was too sick to enjoy it!! (Not the ship's fault)
Fellow passengers were a really mixed bag. On the whole very
pleasant and congenial. Most would get an invitation to dinner again.
