Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
This was certainly the best cruise we've ever done - the staff were charming, the ship was gorgeous and the entertainment was exceptional. A very mixed age group and I would say that there's something for everyone to enjoy. A great itinerary (one week Eastern Caribbean and one week Western) - ports of call were really good.

Public Areas
The ship was very well laid out - if you want a nice, quiet drink before dinner, the Atrium Bar on deck 7 was well positioned (only 2 floors up from the restaurant!) and the piano provided relaxing background music. Gatsby's Wine Bar (Deck 12 aft) also had a very relaxing feel to it (and the Tapas were really tasty too!). The casino was well equipped. The pool area was a little overcrowded sometimes and could get VERY hot - recommend sunbathing on Deck 12 instead - nice breeze from the sea!

Food and Service
We never ventured into any of the 3 alternative restaurants since the food and menus in the main ones were so good. Steaks were always cooked to perfection, the lobster at the President's Dinner was excellent and the sun dried tomato bread on the Italian night was definitely worth 2 or 3 baskets!!! We preferred to eat in the Four Seasons restaurant - it seemed to be a bit brighter! The chocolate buffet was not to be missed if you've got a sweet tooth!

Cabins
We had no problems with our cabin - we had a superior outside cabin on Viking deck (deck 8) and it was perfectly adequate. The only drawback was a slight lack of drawer space but we used the bedside tables instead. The bathroom was fine and the shower was not a problem.

Entertainment
The entertainment on board was first class. The Jean Ann Ryan Company were an extremely talented group of people and the shows were worthy of any London West End show I've seen. Their shows should definitely NOT be missed - especially 'Sealegs Cirque'! All the other entertainers were of an equally high standard - very talented musicians.

Activities
We stopped at San Juan, St Thomas, Nassau, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and NCL's own island, Great Stirrup Cay. The tours organised by the ship are not of the highest quality, content-wise. Most of the trips would be better done yourself - and probably cheaper! We took a ferry across to Paradise Island in Nassau and walked to the Atlantis Hotel - definitely worth a visit!!! The trip to the Bacardi factory in Puerto Rico was very interesting. There is an excellent gym on board the ship and the aerobics/step classes were brilliant.

Who Goes
We had a very mixed crowd on board - however, it was American spring break and there were probably more young people than normal. The group we met up with varied from early 30's to mid 60's. We've arranged to keep in touch with all of them.
