Norwegian Cruise Line

MS Norwegian Sky

Your Rating:Four Stars

Date of Trip: March 9, 2002
Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
We found the general appearance of the ship five star. The rooms were small but well maintained. Towels were changed twice a day. Meals were superb. There was no necessity to pay the extra money to go to the "specialty restaurants". We found the service in the restaurants very good and the longest we had to wait for a table was 5 minutes. The entertainment was very good and should not be missed. We have booked again this year and will be taking the Western Caribbean Tour on the Norwegian Dawn in March.

Public Areas
The only negative aspect of this was that, in the pool area, people arrived early in the morning, planted their belongings on the lounge chairs and proceeded to eat and whatever, coming back to 'their chairs' periodically throughout the day. This left many without chairs in the pool area.

Food and Service
The food was excellent as was the service. We ate in all the restaurants during the week (except the specialty ones). We were never disappointed in the variety or quantity of food available. I felt the pushing of liquor went a little overboard and the drinks themselves (with the exception of the beer buckets) were too expensive.

Cabins
The cabins were small but OK for two people who didn't plan to spend much time in them. We paid for an outside cabin but our window had moisture in between the panes and that made viewing the scenery less than desirable. Next time we will opt for a cheaper inside room.

Entertainment
The shows were fantastic and should not be missed.

Activities
This is the only area where the ship fell short. The lines to go ashore were long and slow. There must be a better way of organizing excursions. Not having been on a cruise before I am unaware of how other ship lines carry out this process.

Who Goes
As we travelled with another couple we rarely spent much time associating with the other guests. If we had travelled alone I'm sure we would have found guests with similar interests to socialize with.
