Norwegian Cruise Line

SS Norway

Your Rating:Five Stars

Date of Trip: July 25, 1998
Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
The Norway provides a totally awesome cruise experience....the ship in itself is a destination, a piece of art deco luxury liner history...the ports of St. Thomas, and St Maarten were exciting and great for shopping, beaches etc....NCL does it right, and best of all they know how to treat their guests like royalty.

Public Areas
The Saga Theatre and Club Internationale were exceptional, as were the shops the enclosed promenades, and the windward dining room. The gym up on Olympic deck was also an excellent place to work off the calories. The pools were always clean, and the pool side party atmosphere was outstanding. The old girl knows how to kick back and party. The overall aire was sophisticated, relaxed luxury with premium service from an attentive Crew!!!!

Food and Service
The food was excellent---the staff was extremely attentive to my allergies to garlic and onions, and we never had anything less than an outstanding meal...the wait staff and maitre d' were solicitous, courteous, correct, and fun to be with. Both dining rooms and Le Bistro were excellent. On deck dining in the great outdoors restaurant was a C+ to B experience. Drink/cocktail service and quality were excellent.

Cabins
We were in a skydeck superior deluxe suite, and it was just that---lots of space--sofa, chairs, glass-top cocktail table -- marble bath with full & deep tub, king-sized bed---tons of closet and drawer space, and full, floor to ceiling windows looking over the sea....a dream-come-true place for a vacation!!!!! Concierge service, daily cocktails and delicious snacks in the afternoon compliments of the officers and staff, and trips to the bridge, cocktails in the captain's cabin made this a 5 star cruise experience.

Entertainment
We attended all of the shows--from Broadway musicals to cabaret act-to cruise staff productions the Norway excels in entertainment. The clubs, discos and lounges are each unique in entertainment style...there is something for cruisers of all ages, and an especially excellent program for kids and teens.

Activities
Spent 3 days at sea---wish there were more, as the ship was far more exciting than the ports. Beached it in st.thomas, toured, and shopped on st. Maartens. Spent days aboard by the pools, in the health club, having tea in the Club Internationale, taking ballroom dance lessons in checkers cabaret, shopping in the shops, etc.---always something to do on this ship.

Who Goes
Crossed the lines of age and socio-economically...most were middle class Americans in their 30s through 50s with a few younger and older folks....lots of teens and children. Our table mates were fantastic...we have kept in touch regularly since the cruise.
