Holland America Line

MS Zuiderdam

Your Rating:Two Stars

Date of Trip: December 28, 2002
Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
Very disappointed in this Holland American ship as were a lot of the people on this cruise. Many BUGS to work out on this new ship, some of them may never be corrected. I hope H.A. gets the word before any more VISTAs are built. I will sail on H.A. again but not a Vista.

Public Areas
Public rooms were good, but over all layout of ship needs a lot more planning. BIG pillars in show lounge (blocks many seats), very poor design.

Food and Service
Food overall was only fair not good enough to over come other faults. To many, way to many food service help that do not understand English.

Cabins
HERE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM, deluxe cabins, and others also, to small and VARY poorly laid out. The joke aboard the ship was the "guy who laid out the cabins had never been on a cruise."

Entertainment
Attend all shows most of them good big production shows very good. Room service help excellent. Staff lived up to H.A. standard, the best.

Activities
This ship did not make one port on time. A few stops we were hours late. Cut our shore time very short!

Who Goes
Nice people aboard ship, most of them disappointed.
