Golden Sun Cruises

MV Aegean Spirit

Your Rating:One Stars
Reviewed by:Danny Callaghan
# previous cruises: 1
Date of Trip: December 20, 2000
Itinerary: Europe

Overview
The Aegean Spirit has to be one of the worst cruise ships in the world. She is the seventh oldest cruise ship in the world and some of the older ones are specialist (steam etc). She is unstable rocks and rolls in even moderate seas. Read passengers letters on www.wonki.co.uk search on cruises then ships then aegean spirit then canaries.

Public Areas
The public areas are acceptable as long as you like the smell of diesel because that is what you will get in the saloon deck and main saloon on the port side. The pools were only filled 3 times on my trip. The gym is dangerous and should be locked as most of the equipment is broken. The lift were out of service for most of the trip.

Food and Service
The food can only be described as edible. Although they made an attempt for Xmas night dinner and found some frozen turkey breast.

Cabins
The majority of the cabins are only suitable for a one night ferry trip most have bunks and if you are lucky the sewage will not come up your shower.

Entertainment
The entertainment can only be described as poor. Although the house band had some very good musicians. The daytime events did not happen except when some passengers decided to organise some things.

Activities
Sit in the bar or if the sun shine on the sun deck try the pool if they put water in them there are 3 would you believe but god knows were the water comes from. Try the excursions but expect to be disappointed as the ship is always late in arriving so the trips are cancelled of curtailed. The boat is not children friendly.

Who Goes
The passengers were great there are none I met who I would not invite to dinner. This was the Xmas Cruise to Hell but you will have heard the phrase "in the face of adversity" or was it the "Dunkirk Spirit" In spite of every thing we endured we had a laugh.
