Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
The cruise was terrific from start to finish. Excellent choice of ports of call, wonderful service and organisation.

The organised trips were good, although we did our own thing in some of the islands with which we were familiar, and there were some new, more active, trips for those of us with a bit more get up and go!!

Public Areas
The decks are well maintained and there are enough nooks and crannies to find a completely quiet space if you want one. The Neptune lounge was fine for the evening entertainment -and we really liked the nightclub area. The open air bbq's were really good fun and again with enough space to either be near or far from the music. All very well maintained and comfortable.

Food and Service
The dining room service was wonderful - have read some complaints about portion size - can only assume that people are used to 'pub portions'- personally I would rather have something small, delicious and well served than a great heap of food. There was also the opportunity to dine less formally and we liked the pool side area for casual lunch.

Cabins
The cabin was very quiet - we were worried as it was directly under the stage but we heard nothing. Just enough space for clothes - bit short on drawer space. I suppose a six foot large bloke might find the shower a bit small - we were fine with it. Large window - was lovely to wake up to a new view every day!

Entertainment
Show type entertainment is not our favourite and we gave some of the shows a miss. The two comics were very funny - unusually, and the material suitable for most tastes. The dancing girls were a bit end of the pear-ish and the singer very 70's, but most people seemed to love it!

Activities
Good small fitness centre, pool area very pleasant tho' the pool is quite small. Great Jacuzzis and soooo glad that the shower is next to it to persuade those oiks who don't to shower before getting in!!

Who Goes
Tended to be older but amongst them some much younger - we met up with two other couples and are cruising again on Braemar this year - and we did invite them to dinner - we are all in our 30's-40's. That is a big Olsen plus - you can mix if you want or be solo - no enforced jollity and naff join ins are enforced, but the opportunity to join others travelling alone is there for you, in the shape of dance clubs, dance hosts and singles coffee and cocktails etc.
