Carnival Cruise Line

MS Tropicale

Your Rating:One Star

Date of Trip: December 22, 2000
Itinerary: South America

Overview
Its not a cruise for young family and the boat was only late when arriving to ports. I enjoyed the food (it was better that Royal Caribbean when in came to presentation). But at this moment I would not recommend Carnival Tropicale because it is an old boat and the entertainment sucks

Public Areas
There was no disco - closed, I dance when my children had a party in it. The Carnival Camp program is good for young children but there was no entertainment for young crowd. I was greatly disappointed in the carnival cruise line.

Food and Service
Food was great and our servers where the best people. In fact the only crew we saw during the trip was our server, the crew that clean the bedroom. And we only saw the director at the show. At Royal all the crew participate and even did the show. But the food had the nicest presentation

Cabins
They gave us an upgrade and they gave the last level of the boat in front of the boat where the wave would wake us up and the anchor every time it when down. It no fun when you have three young children and you are severely motion sickness Also the washroom was block and a awful smell came up after three days and the smell of gas in the last two days. Our room was always clean but someone days our cabin stewart would throw our book or toys under the bed.

Entertainment
Cruise staff that I enjoy and seem to work hard was the waiters, the lido deck staff. The cruise director and dancers showed up only at night during the shows. The shows were okay but two nights they did only show and we were 1,000 and there was only about 200 seats and people got upset and left. And it was our only entertainment beside bridge or casino which I cant afford the casino and do not play bridge

Activities
Child care was good and the kids enjoy it. But the entertainment suck.

Who Goes
We have met people that live in our area and will invite. I am very mad with carnival because we are a young family that had save to go to cruise and intended to go with carnival on other cruise once we saved, and I was greatly disappointed with the cruise and it takes a lot for me to be disappointed, when I call the day I came back they mention this would go to the guest relation and might compensate us but I have not heard a word and I am sure they will not call back. The only way I would go back on Carnival and recommend this cruise line (some of my colleague want to go on the Panama one and now they are not even considering it), is if they do something to compensate us ( is to pay for the trip that we had save or another cruise) but otherwise I would go and recommend Royal Caribbean which I thought was good service for your money and cheaper.
