Carnival Cruise Line

MS Carnival Triumph

Itinerary: Canada/New England

Overview
The Ship Is Very Beautiful, very well designed, and very organized. The amenities of this cruise ship are marvelous and they rival any ship cruising the world today. Although this is a big ship with many people, not at one time during the cruise did I feel crowded.

Public Areas
The Theme on the Carnival Triumph is cities of the world. The public areas are very well laid out and are all beautiful, each with its own different theme. Some of the cities indicated aboard the Triumph are England, France, Rome, Tokyo, United States, etc. The Lounge aboard the Triumph is one of the largest at sea, towering 3 decks. There was not one bad seat in there, unless you were sitting behind one of the 4 metal poles. Although there is no walk around promenade on this ship, there are very quaint and cozy areas, one being located on deck 3 right outside the lobby. There were rarely ever people out here and it was a nice place to watch the world go by. The 3 pools aboard the triumph are what you come to expect. Although the pools were 65º when we were in Canada, many people still decided to go swimming. The Casino along Worlds Way on the Promenade Deck 5 is one of the largest if not the largest casino at Sea. You name it they have it in the Casino aboard the Triumph.

Food and Service
Although Carnival Is not known for It's food, I must say the food I have experienced was magnificent. There are 2 Dining Rooms aboard the Triumph, the London dining room, and the Paris Dining Room. The Paris Dining Room was all the way in the back of the ship, so the views were a bit better back there than in the London dining room, due to the fact the walking deck was outside and lounge chairs lined up in front of the windows. The Service in the dining room was top of the line and they practically knew what you wanted before you even said anything. The buffets were crowded most of the time on the top deck at the South Beach Club. The one disadvantage about this buffet is that they don't have trays for the food, which makes it difficult for you to carry your food back to your table (if you were able to find one).

Cabins
Carnival says their Staterooms on average are over 50% larger than any other cruise line. Hardly. We were in a Balcony Stateroom on the Panorama Deck 10 in Stateroom 1056. We got there and saw 2 twin beds that were convertible to a king size bed and a couch. In the Brochure it states there is an upper birth in the cabin, but to no avail, no upper birth. Instead we were told a rollaway would be brought to the room, but before that I found a cot under the 2 twin beds. The bathroom was very small and could definitely not fit 2 people in there without feeling cramped. The shower was tiny and a full size person would not be able to fit in there without being uncomfortable. The cabin was very quiet throughout our voyage and though the Fog Horn was being blasted all night, we could not hear a thing.

Entertainment
Here, Carnival deserves all their credit. I attended the shows every night and they were all magnificent. All the rehearsals pay off when you perform for people and you do not make one solitary mistake. The Cruise Staff was very polite though you could never find the Cruise Director John Heald, who only decided to make an appearance for 10 minutes each night at the shows. The Comedian was very funny and I do urge you to go see him and his "R" rated show which should really be rated "X".

Activities
The Cruise we were on was a 5-Day cruise to St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. One board during the sea days there was hardly anything ever going on except at night where there was a show or bingo. The pool deck was always occupied during the day except the day it was raining, but some people were still out there reading and doing otherwise. The children's programs were always filled with children and my look at the facilities I know no child that went in there would ever get bored.

Who Goes
All the passengers aboard the ship were all very nice, each always eager to talk to someone. If we lived near the people who we sat with at dinner, we would definitely have them over for dinner anytime.
