Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern

Overview
We had a great time. From the ship itself (new in 2005), to the rooms and the food. Very good, very well done. Lot's of activities for the kids up through and including 15 yr olds. Camp Carnival was very good for our 11-13 yr olds. Helped them make friends, fun activities and the ability to check in and out on their own was nice.

Public Areas
The Sun Deck area was great, lot's of chairs on various levels. Always able to find 2-3 together when ever we went there. The 3 pools were fun, as was the 200 ft great slide, 3 sets of jaccuzzi's. We were surprised they used saltwater in the pools (it made floating great though) The after hours movies there were fun to watch (outside) on the large screen w/popcorn. The main decks inside were clean and always well maintained (fun and lively, lot's of activities and sales).

Food and Service
We were in the Silver Dining room (has windows) and the waiter and assistant were great. We had a table of our own at the 5:45 pm (early seating). Always plenty of time (no rush) to make it there as well as finish the meal. We could arrive as late as 6:15 without issue. Can't say enough about the overall experience, very well done. The food on the Lido Deck was outstanding. Always fresh, on time, nice variety and especially recommend the Fish & Chips on the level above Emilys, near the back of the ship. The Calimari salad and breaded fried oysters were great.

Cabins
We were on deck 7, Empress deck near the front of the ship. We had a balcony, the kids had an 'inner' state room with 2 fold down upper bunks, they loved it. Our room had a large picture window and the ability to go out on the deck for early morning docking/arrivals to new islands was great. Quick access to the front of the ship was nice as well. Never crowded there. Great video and pictures from both. The room steward was attentive and personal. Great magic tricks for the kids. Nice towel animals.

Entertainment
We didn't attend many of the shows, were able to catch them on the ships recorded TV programs. The comic show and the special guest Country Singer were very good.

Activities
One of our first stops was St. Thomas. We opted to go directly to St. John and Trunk bay (which was beautiful). We took a ferry around and directly to St.John. If I ever do it again I'd take a cab to the ferry at Red Hook, then the ferry over to St.John Cruz bay. Cheaper for sure. Trunk bay was lots of fun with the underwater guided tour (plaques mounted underwater).

On Antigua we did a catamaran sail and snorkel excursion. The snorkel piece was out in open water, very rough, limited visibility and there were Jelly fish everywhere, not very well done. The beach was fun though as were the onboard activities (how low can you go), the first mate had some good deals on Jewelry.

We studied and did our own excursions for the rest of the Islands. Always check the condition of the cab prior to agreeing to take it. Some drivers have real junkers. We never had one, but I saw a familty getting into one, the looks on the two 16-18yr old girls was unforgettable, good lesson for me.

Who Goes
Everyone we met was very sociable and fun. If you opt for Breakfast in the Dining hall vs. Lido deck. You're seated at tables with 2-3 different couples. Helps to meet people during the cruise.
