Carnival Cruise Line

MS Carnival Legend

Your Rating:Three Stars

Overview
Our 8 day Exotic Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Legend has come and gone. I believe 8+ days on a cruise is just about max for us. One reason is due to the repetitiveness of all the activities on board while another is (believe it or not) eating! This cruise was good but not our best. I will explain, just read on.

Public Areas
The Legend is the most elegant ship we have ever set foot upon. I have read a lot of negative comments on this ship but it is most beautiful. If one was led inside blindfolded and open their eyes to the interior you would never guess Carnival. The outside public areas do still resemble Carnival but have more class and styling than the ships of old.

Food and Service
Carnival has taken a giant step forward in their food presentation, variety and taste since we last sailed them in 1999. Last sailing I went to the Pizza bar to a lot satisfy my hunger, this time I went once, only to taste test their pizza. This time it also looked more like the picture in their brochure. The dinning room service did score poorly this round. The waiter and bus girl were very friendly and kind but I believe Carnival has them spread too thin trying to service too many tables. We were on the upper dining area on deck 3 where they had as many as 6 tables of 2 and 4 guests to service.

Cabins
The cabin was very adequate. We had an inside with a lot of closet space, very nice shower, two chairs with small table and queen bed. And you could stuff your suitcases under the bed. Carnival has done an excellent job here.

Entertainment
The entertainment was your typical cruise ship song and dance. I believed they relied on and over used the orchestra. Carnival has some catching up to do to match Royal Caribbean in this catagory.

Activities
You can sum up my 3 star rating of this adventure with 3 words, Belize, Limon and Colon. I wonder why Carnival has addressed this cruise as Exotic. The worst by far is Limon Costa Rica. The shore line and rivers are laced with muddy waters. The waves breaking onto the shores are laden with mudd. The living conditions of most people are terrible.

Belize is better but still has much poverty. We did enjoy a bike ride through a so called rain forest. On this cruise I would rate the ship a 5 star but the ports of call drug the over all experience down to a 3 star.

Who Goes
Varied lot.
