Itinerary: Mexico-Western

Overview
For an overall budget priced cruise, you get a budget-priced ship, plus some extras! Overall, the Jubilee wears its age well. Not the glitz and glamour of the bigger sisters, but a good size ship..with many nautical miles behind her. Small enough to be personal...large enough to keep one busy for a day at sea. Great for first time cruisers and family reunions. Deck plans were easy to learn and moving about the ship was easy. Although we noticed heavy vibrations, especially at higher speeds and docking, the "ride" was smooth. The ship was clean and free of clutter, and it is evident that there has been some updating throughout the ship. A good cruise for the time and money; however, this ship's days definitely are numbered.

Public Areas
Public areas were comfortable...lots of good wood and solid construction. Many loud and announcements and noise throughout, but there were never really lots of crowded spaces. Our group of 20 mixed and mingled well...lots of seating to gather, have a drink, and talk. Colors were not flashy or vibrant..very soothing. Again, you can tell the age of the ship by decor and space, but Jubilee holds its own!

Food and Service
Food in main dining room was good, but lacked the special taste and preparation of other up and coming cruise lines. Of all the service on board, the dining room staff was the most helpful, energetic, and really expressed appreciation for taking the cruise. The best service in dining experienced at sea yet! All service was sincere and with much appreciation expressed for taking the cruise. The lido bar was a different story! Outdated...crowded...bland food...not good! However, the 24 hour pizzeria was a hit with our crowd!

Cabins
Spacious, clean, and up-to-date. Many passengers complained of strong odors! Our group experienced the smell of fumes (like diesel fuel) for a majority of the trip. God help you if you get a cot to sleep on! Several in our group who slept on cots had springs missing in the bedding, thus sleeping on the floor several nights. If you book a three/four person room, be sure that upper berths are provided prior to sailing! Bring shampoo...carnival only provides soap and a drinking glass. Towels, however, were plush and good! Again, not a bad cabin for the price!

Entertainment
For a cruise ship of this size and itinerary, Good! Dancers worked hard for their applause. If you love dancing in a disco with 4th Graders and to constant unfamiliar music, then OZ is for you! Teens run the show in many adult areas, although the music in the piano bar was good! Entertainment after 12 Midnight was limited and boring.

Activities
Cruise director was not visible to passengers during the day and was not personable. Lots to do, and the staff really hustled when a port stop was cancelled. Like anything in life...activities were what you made of them! Gym was average(considering that when the ship was built, little emphasis was placed on health club facilities). Our kids had a blast in Camp Carnival!!! The Casino staff was the friendliest I have experienced at sea!

Who Goes
If this were a restaurant, then it was the "all you can eat fish camp." Everyone and every age comes...Very friendly and relaxed! A family oriented group! I would travel with this group again!
