Itinerary: Caribbean - Western

Overview
This was my third cruise and my new brides first. My first two cruises were on Carnivals Carnivale & Festivale (many years ago). The MS Inspiration was impressive to me, and unbelievable to my wife. Her first words when we left the ship, I cannot wait for our next cruise. So we booked a Feb. 2002 cruise on the Holiday. I cannot wait myself.

Public Areas
We enjoyed every area of the ship and my wife’s favorite area was the Casino. She had never played the slots before and had a blast there. I enjoyed the main show room the most. Great shows every night. Being a musician I was very impressed with the quality of the orchestra. The pool areas where crowded but we always found a spot to enjoy the sun and cool off in the pools.

Food and Service
The food in the dinning room was great. Well prepared and presented. The wait staff catered to our every need. If someone at our table needed something special all they had to do was ask and it was taken care of. This was the highlight of the cruise for me. The restaurant on the Lido deck was only OK. The food here was good but basically the same every day. Carnival could and should offer more than burgers and hotdogs at this eatery. The pizza shop was quite good and always open. This was great for a snack late. The late night buffets had a nice variety and always good. My wife especially like the desert buffet. One thing is for sure, you wont go hungry on this ship.

Cabins
Our cabin was clean and well maintained. The size was larger than I had expected. The bed converted to a king (more like a queen) and was very comfortable. The room steward always had everything in order. We had a stopped floor drain the first night and a phone call was all that was necessary to get the problem corrected. Closet space met our needs. The toilet area was very nice. The shower was 4+ ft. long and the water was always hot. Other than the stopped drain our first night the room was great. The room steward always never missed a beat.

Entertainment
The entertainment was always good. The main show room orchestra provided the best entertainment for me. We also had a great time at the return passengers private party. We dance all night long that evening.

Activities
We toured at every port but our most enjoyable stops had to be St. Thomas and Aruba. St. Thomas for the shopping and Aruba for it’s beauty. Every one I know that has been to St. Thomas says this is the jewelry capital of the world and you will too. Aruba was just breathtaking. We could retire their and watch the cruise ships come in.

Who Goes
One of the nice unexpected things was our table mate. We shared our table with two couples that became our buddies on ship. We could not have picked better table mates. Good job Carnival.
