Itinerary: Caribbean - Southern

Overview
A group of 10 went on the Fascination on May 7, 2001 going to Key West, Cozumel and Carmen de playa. When we arrived in Miami to aboard the ship we were handed a piece of paper stating that the ship was having engine problems and would be changing its itinerary to Bahamas. That really upset us because my fiance and I already have been to the Bahamas and we were going to celebrate our anniversary in Cozumel since that is where we met. We went on the ship to try and make the best of it, but at dinner I ordered the lamb chops and when I got them they were RAW. They were so RAW that I could have squeezed them and the blood would have dripped out. When I asked for a steak the waiter told me that steak was not on the menu. So my fiance asked if one could be cooked. The waiter said no! We then asked for the Head Waiter for steak and he said that he would get one for me. He did. On Tuesday, we arrived in the Freeport, Bahamas and decided to take the Dolphin Encounter Tour. When we arrived at the Dolphin place we were told that we could not go on the tour because Carnival Cruise Line did not advise the people of Bahamas that we were coming and that the Disney ship had booked the tour. So we had to go back to the ship and get our money back. When we went to the Purser's desk to complain, one of the men stated to us that the ship has had this engine problem for at least two weeks. We were told that the engine problem started that weekend and that they faxed letters to our travel agent. Our travel agent received the letter on the date of sailing. That night at dinner we had lobster for dinner and it was good at the time, but only to find out that it was bad because a couple from our group that had it got ill. The next day we were still ill from the night before and stayed in our cabins. On Thursday, we planned to go to the Broadway Show but the ship was having "technical difficulties" and we could not see the show as planned. We thought that the the cruise staff was very rude and unpleasant towards everyone. And I would never cruise on Carnival again.

Public Areas
The Casino staff were the only pleasant people on the ship. They (Debbie, Elsa, Simon, etc. were very friendly.

Food and Service
Food and service were horrible.

Cabins
The cabins were fine, except for someone stealing our friends wallet. Even being so stupid that he was a police officer and his badge was in it.

Entertainment
Unhappy.

Activities
Very unhappy.

Who Goes
A wide variety of people.
