Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
This was our first cruise and I had not been interested in being 'trapped' on a boat for a week. However, I found that visiting a different island virtually every day provided a constantly changing scene. We toured, snorkeled and shopped through the Northern Caribbean.

Public Areas
The public rooms were fairly nice. Not top class but quite adequate. We enjoyed the pool deck and the promenade for the most part.

Food and Service
There was no end to it. We could have done six meals a day. We took breakfast on the pool deck as we found the buffet there lighter and more to our liking than the more formal one in the dining room. We rarely had lunch on board as we were touring but those we did have (2 or 3) were excellent. Good quality, good service and quite adequate quantity. Supper was the second sitting which gave us time to recover from the busy day. Again, excellent in all respects.

Cabins
We were in B deck outside forward. The cabin was not large but sufficient room for us considering we were in so little. The fold out single beds were comfortable although a nice double or queen size would have been preferred. Can't have everything though. Bathroom was not large but we are motor home travelers and are used to bathrooms which are not large when travelling. After all the shower was large enough for me and there was lots of hot water.

Entertainment
We went to the show every night. The entertainers were mainly from England or Canada. That suited us quite nicely as we are Canadian. They were good and quite varied in their shows during the week we were with them.

Activities
The pool was small but we never made use of it as we were on the island doing our water things from there. There was an exercise room with the things other use there. Our exercise was touring and snorkeling. After all, I can use an exercise room at home.

Who Goes
The passengers were mainly fellow Canadians and about 25% from England. Quite a number were in their 50's although there were a lot in their late 20's and 30's. All in all a good mix. Enjoyed being on a ship small enough you could meet the same people and strike up a acquaintance without having to work at it. Some of the other ships passengers we spoke to in port lamented never being able to find the same person twice, even when they tried to.
