Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
We found out very quickly what affordable cruising meant. Butlins at Sea. A very disappointing cruise

Public Areas
The public areas were disappointing. No quiet lounge to sit and read, write or relax. The pool was small and thankfully hardly anyone used it as it was fairly cold in October There was a great deal of maintenance going on for 10 days around the deck areas. [welding, grinding]

Food and Service
The food fortunately made a difference. It was generally excellent if not at times rather on the cold side. The waiting staff all worked really well especially when they continued to carry trays of food as the boat pitched and rolled in storm force winds 10-12, for three days. The buffet was also well worth having and there was too much food. The singing waiters were excellent

Cabins
The cabin on B deck aft was basic. In the storm the portholes were blocked off which felt like we were entombed. The noise was horrendous, it felt like we were inside a cement mixer, day and night, and was worse when the ship slowed down. We have written to complain about this to the Port Health Authority Southampton and to Airtours. The closet was in need of a serious make over to get rid of rust, smells and to make the shower area suitable for someone to shower in, in some space. We wonder if this area of the ship was meant for paying guests.

Entertainment
One hour of entertainment from a guest artist was inadequate. The entertainers worked hard but high class it wasn't.

Activities
On board. Bingo Horse Racing were highlights of the day. No thanks. The guest lecturers were great but poorly attended. Ashore. Planned coach trips are plugged heavily. Expensive and no real concessions given to the independent traveller who wants to do own thing.

Ports of Call. Our Itinerary was messed up due to the storm. Two ports of call missed. Casablanca was a strange choice in light of world events. On the whole time was too short in places of real interest.

Who Goes
A mix of people.
