Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
This was a great introduction to cruising. We found the experience beyond our expectations in every aspect .The ship itself, the friendliness of staff and other passengers. I am sure there are much grander ships but sunbird provided a clean, comfortable, relaxed holiday

Public Areas
All the public areas were well presented, with a choice of 2 large entertainment lounges, "clipper bar" with pianist/singer styled in nautical theme. In the evening the "Compass room bar" set high around the funnel gives more a club style atmosphere with low lighting. The casino has plenty of options . Ample loungers, chairs and tables on outside decks

Food and Service
Food was much better than we expected. We used Seven Seas for breakfast (buffet) or waiter..some extra choice like waffles, and also for dinner. We had 8.30 2nd sitting (the famous "harry Potter" was our waiter .what a character . Lunch and afternoon tea in the lido self service .Food was always hot, varied, nicely presented and served by the most friendliest and entertaining staff we have ever encountered .drinks we did not take the all inclusive package and we ended up better off as not huge drinkers we never went without though .99.00 gbp if bought in uk at least 14 days before or 129.00 on board. You only get part of the day on arrival, and it runs out when all accounts are closed at the end of last night so only 6 full days really. Beer #2 cocktails 1.75-3.75 plus specials etc so work it out for your needs.

Cabins
We were on A deck outer cabin . The cabins were clean and functional, 2 large wardrobes , dressing table, beds, tv radio shower hot and powerful yet really outsize people may struggle with cubicle size. The styling is a little aged but the idea is not to spend hours in the cabin except to sleep when on holiday.

Entertainment
We enjoyed mostly the shows and acts in the can lounge and did not go to the Oklahoma where game show type entertainment as well as music was performed. Mostly very good and thoroughly entertaining . All the ships entertainers were very good and i would say all the crew from stewards, bar staff, waiters dancers musicians to the captain .. 1st class

Activities
Pearls of the caribbean from Dom Rep to St Lucia, Barbados, Dominica, St Marten, Tortola. Get ashore and do your own thing, negotiate with the taxi drivers and they will give a great tour for between 30-50 usd. St Maarten best for shopping and our favourite. Good info on each island at the tours desk and each day in sundial new sheet. Remember on each port visit there will be 2-4 other ships = thousands going ashore at same time. Get to the big attractions early to avoid the coach arrivals.

Who Goes
Mainly Brits and Canadians, ages from 20 - 90, couples and families. Our dinner table was for 8 people and we met 6 great people and yes we will be meeting some again and all if given chance. At breakfast and lunch which is open seating we spoke to many people with fantastic stories to tell from all around the world ,everyone was happy to sit with, meet and share the holiday experience which is what we found so amazing and has hooked us to cruising away from endless all inclusive breaks.
