Date of Trip: March 6, 2004
Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
This was our 2nd trip on Sunbird. 4 staff remembered us and our names from our 1st trip in 2000. Just do it! Best cruise deal for efficient, friendly service, well maintained accommodations, great food, great entertainment, and great passengers. Perfect for first time cruisers. There were hundreds of repeat Sunbird passengers, including us. Seemed to be kid friendly, from tots to teens. 3 teens at our dinner table didn't want to go home! They mellowed right out as the week went on. We can't wait to go again on Sunbird.

Public Areas
Public areas very comfortable, clean and inviting. You can stroll or jog completely around the ship on at least one deck. Both times we sailed, there was no problem with noise while sleeping. The pools are small, but not crowded. Casino was small, but we came home with $! Players enjoyed themselves. Loved the Lido deck and ate breakfasts and lunches out there, in the open air. The entire ship was kept spotless. Liked all facilities.

Food and Service
Service was excellant - staff is professional and very anxious to see that everyone has a wonderful time. Tips are inluded, by the way. Cabin staff really cared for us - we came back hot and tired from sight-seeing, and our guy took one look at us, and brought us a full ice bucket without asking. Staff is long standing - many years of service on this ship. Food was varied, had a British influence & delicious. I am a red meat eater, bit I tried the vegetarian menu at dinner each night, and was very pleased. Portions were perfect so you could try a starter, a soup, a salad, and entree and a dessert without being bloated. Good choice of salad fixings at Lido cafe, proteins, fruits, sides and desserts. Lots of healthy choices for all ages at all meals. Breakfast choices were vast and excellant as well.

Cabins
3 adults shared a standard inside cabin with no problem at all. Same size we had before. Good air conditioning, lots of mirrors and light. There was more than enough closet space for 3, and lots of hangers. My husband is a big guy, and although the shower was cosy, he had no problem. Cabin was quiet. We were mid-ship directly under the entertainment lounges. Slept better than we do at home with that gentle rocking overnight. Cosy and good mattresses.

Entertainment
Small stages, but top quality entertainment. House band, Oasys, is fantastic and plays for all ages. We had a fabulous deck party one night - and everyone, young and old were quickly up dancing. All the acts were greatly enjoyed by all - lounges were packed at all the shows. Smaller ship means you get to know everyone by the end of the trip. Entertainers were relaxing by the pool etc. and very amiable.

Activities
There are good on shore excursions, good advice from staff, and something to do every day on board, as well. We stopped in Antigua, St Kitts, St Thomas, (had to go through immigration on board, but so does eveyone) San Juan & Santo Domingo (which we didn't like) but enjoyed all the others, especially lovely old San Juan. 2 small pools, and a small health club and saunas. There were kids clubs, as well. Stuff for teens too. Everyone seemed to be enjoy the programs. Don't know about babysitting services though.

Who Goes
High percentage of Brits, and rest mostly Canadians. We really enjoyed each other - everyone is in such a good mood, anyway. You could just start up a chat with anyone, anytime. Mostly 40's and up - lots of seniors who partied hardy. Didn't see any booze related unpleasantness - no one got out of hand, that we could see. Just a wonderful time. We are 50, sis is 60 and table mates were 40's with 3 great teens. There were a couple of families - 3 generations sailing with us, all repeaters.
