Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
Excellent cruise for the money. The ship is being kept in immaculate condition. Never felt crowded although all cabins were sold. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I would anytime again travel on the Sunbird.

Public Areas
Public areas were spacious. We specially enjoyed the Clipper Bar; very cozy. Very nice walk-around promenade and two above average size pools (with safe areas for small children) which were constantly heated. The Can Can lounge had a nice layout. Didn't use the casino but it was well visited every evening.

Food and Service
The food was excellent. Lot's of choices. Best food was available in the dinning room, although most of the times we had breakfast and lunch on the Lido deck (buffet) since we enjoyed it too much eating outside. The service was very good, regardless where one was eating.

Cabins
We had an "A" deck outside cabin. Took it only due no inside one was available. We personally don't need a window since we hardly stay in the cabin. Closet space was adequate; a few more coat hangers would have been nice. Beds were in a L-shape arrangement. The shower was small but sufficient. Hardly heard any noise from the adjacent cabins.

Entertainment
Went every night after dinner to the shows in the Can Can lounge. The comedian Bob Taylor was very good; he performed twice. The performances by the Sunbird crew were excellent.

Activities
We flew from Canada into Palma Mallorca. First day at sea then stopped in Valletta Malta, Messina Sicily, Naples Italy, Olbia Sardinia and Ajaccio Corsica. Did our own thing in Valletta but took the shore excursions at the other places. The tours Taormina and Mt. Etna in Sicily and the Sorrento/Amalfi coast south of Naples were the best. If we had known that Ajaccio, Corsica, is such a nice town (the ship berthed right "downtown") we wouldn't have taken the 1/2 day island tour. The remaining time we spent at the pools. Beware, the pool areas were a bit crowded on the day at sea.

Who Goes
We were sitting at a table for 8. Lots of fun. Passengers (about 1500) were mainly British. About 200 Canadian and about 150 each from Holland and Scandinavia. All ages and everyone we met was very nice. Everybody seemed to have a marvellous time.
