Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
The ship was very clean in all areas both public and cabins. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful but on some occasions unimaginative. Breakfast in the Lido restaurant was good but "dumped" on the plate which spoiled it a little. I got a firm impression that the operation was well organised and monitored IN MOST AREAS.

Public Areas
All public areas were very clean and tidy, I don't think I ever noticed a thing out of place in any bar, lounge or the Casino. All these areas were comfortable. The Chart room (highest point on the ship) offered some impressive views. All areas were comfortable.

Food and Service
The food was good and plentiful but a little unimaginative at times. The waiter service in the Seven Seas was very good. The breakfast service in the Lido was slapdash in the way they dumped the food on the plate.

Cabins
I had an outside cabin on the lower deck and thought at first it was a little small. But the cabin stewart put the beds down in the evening and put them away in the morning so the available room was more than adequate considering the amount of time you spend in your cabin

Entertainment
There was the usual "holiday camp" type activities planned through the day that gave you the opportunity to do something different if you wished. The evening entertainment was good. A first class male singer, I think his name was Dominique, a comedian by the name of Peter Pipper who was excellent and a male female music act that was fine but not my cup of tea.

Activities
This was my first cruise and I don't think I made full use of these facilities. I tended to do my own thing and didn't like being pestered by taxi drivers in most ports. A simple guide telling passengers how far away the town was and map how to get there would have assisted.

Who Goes
A mixed bunch that in most cases were fine and friendly. There were some people that needed "advising" on how to conduct themselves around the pool. On one occasion a large group of adults and children who had been ashore and came back to the boat around 1.00pm. They proceeded to block the paths and entrance to the pool with there sun beds. It was a health & safety issue that none of the crew challenged. Also despite notification not to people still placed towels on sun beds before they went ashore so they had a reserved space when they returned. The group I previously mentioned did this on several occasions.
