Overview
Overall, the cruise was as formal or as informal as you make it. Staff was very helpful, approachable and eager to please. The ship shone and sparkled - someone was always polishing and tidying. Food was good - something for everyone at every meal, and well presented. Price was affordable and we felt that it was perfect for first time cruisers, although we met many repeat clients from the British Isles and Canada. There was very much a small hotel atmosphere, and everyone was very friendly and relaxed, ready to have fun. Staff made it clear that they wanted us to have fun and we were often asked if we were enjoying ourselves and was there anything that could be improved upon. On our last "at sea" day, we were sailing from Aruba to Barbados and rescued two fishermen from Grenada who had been lost at sea for 2 weeks! They were near dehydration death, but recovered in our sick bay. They survived by faith, and by the fact that they are used to the elements. One said that they knew they would not last another night. Passengers took up a collection to replace their fishing boat, which, by maritime law, had to be sunk. They were flown home by Coast Guard. What a great Christmas gift for their families, and what a great Christmas story for us to bring back home two weeks before Christmas Day!

Public Areas
Lots of comfy chairs, lounges, love seats all over the ship. I loved the Lido Deck (open air)where we could eat any meal or sit and enjoy the sea breeze and view. I spent a lot of time there reading. Casino was circular, well lit and nicely decorated. Gave the impression of being rather intimate. Casino staff was eager to answer questions and wish us luck with a smile.

Food and Service
Service was impeccable, staff were fun but professional. No question went unanswered, no request was refused. One night we opted to eat out on the Lido Deck (out side in the moonlight)instead of the dining room. The next night our table staff inquired about that. They were concerned that we didn't like the food or service and wanted to know what they could do for us. We loved our table staff!! The food, no matter where we ate (and we tried every spot) was of the same fine quality. There were lots of special buffets through the cruise in different locations inside and out, at different times of the day/night. WE were never disappointed. Liked the British offerings.

Cabins
We had a standard inside cabin on the Upper Deck. There was lots of closet space, and we didn't feel cramped at all. A/C in each room, neither my husband or I are small folks and we did find the shower a bit small - but it's a ship, right? Not a hotel. We had no problems with it. It was very quiet and we slept better there than we do at home. Cabin steward was terrific and changed our towels 2x/day. Got us whatever we wanted.

Entertainment
We enjoyed all of the entertainment and shows. We always came away feeling as though we had been to an intimate club. The show rooms are all round, you see and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Entertainment staff were all friendly when we bumped into them at the pool, etc. A lot of the entertainment and shows had interactive elements for the audience. We all enjoyed that part. Never heard one complaint about the shows.

Activities
Go to the shows. Go learn to play British Bingo! It's fast paced and players are very serious! Go to the special poolside events - they are a blast. Go to every single thing that's offered. You always meet great people and have a good time. We boarded at Barbados, and visited St. Lucia, Grenada, Margarita Is., Aruba, 7 Curacao. We did a lot of Christmas shopping at Grenada and Curacao. You could walk to most shopping at each port - people who just wanted to beach it, enjoyed their sun & fun sessions. There were several choices of excursions at each port, at different prices. But they have to be booked by noon or so the day before. Information seminars on all shore trips & shopping

Who Goes
Passengers were 35 years and up, singles and couples. Several large families cruised together and were the envy of us all! They (all ages) had a riot and took in everything. They became well known soon into our trip. Mostly British, Irish and Scottish, some Scandinavian and some Canadian. Those Brits sure know how to party! We still keep in e-mail contact with 3 Canadian and 2 British families by e-mail regularly. Our own family is planning a group cruise in early 2005 on this ship. We are all saving our toonies and loonies! My husband would go back now, if we could swing it. Sunquest Cruises for you Canadians.
