Overview
This was our first cruise and we were not disappointed. We treated ourselves to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. We found that at our age (early 40s) it was perfect for us - the only thing I would recommend is a good pair of walking shoes! Lots of little added extras - eg chocs on the bed on the last night, drinks in the room (a little expensive but very welcome), and the best was being able to stay on the ship on our return home day as our flight was not until later in the evening and we thought we'd have to get off as early as 8am. As it was, we stayed and used the facilities until 6pm.

Public Areas
Public areas were great, exceptionally clean and tidy. There was always someone cleaning something somewhere. We loved the sundecks, but just for drinking rather than sunbathing as we are not sunseekers! We are not very interested in cabaret shows but found good alternatives in the clipper bar and chart rooms.

Food and Service
The food was excellent throughout, along with the service. As soon as you had finished something, the table was cleared. We chose the more informal dining arrangements in the Lido Cafe, as we prefer a little anonymity - that suited us well - there were lovely staff there and we chose our own dining times.

Cabins
We were very pleasantly surprised to find that we had been given a cabin two decks higher than we had booked! We were very happy with it - lots of clothing space, comfortable beds, a TV (very important to my husband!). We were on deck 5 near to the Can Can lounge - we thought it would be noisy but wasn't. Our steward was excellent and she more than deserved the tip that we left her.

Entertainment
Big shows are not our idea of entertainment - we had a look at them but chose the quieter options. Most of the cruise staff were very friendly and always greeted us when passing. We prefer to keep a lower profile and were able to do so, others enjoyed dressing up and did that too.

Activities
We went primarily for the ports of call and were not disappointed. First stop Bizerte - I don't care if I never see that place again! We didn't expect more than that. The rest was outstanding, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Monaco/Monte Carlo (our favourite excursion - and Villefranche was our favourite port), Barcelona, and a tour of Palma on the last day. We didn't use the pool but sat on deck quite often having a drink.

Who Goes
We didn't form any friendships but never set out to do so. We wanted time for ourselves as we have three grown up kids at home! So it was perfect for us. Fellow passengers were all very pleasant and friendly, as we were with them. There was also a scandinavian party on board whilst we were there.
