Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
The sunbird was a really enjoyable boat! really fun! i was a bit pessimistic to begin with as i kept imagining 'Butlins on water'(I'm not saying thees anything wrong with butlins though) but it was not! Our room was a pleasant surprise as we paid for a standard inside cabin and were expecting the very basic, but when we arrived at our room we had a relatively largish room with a square window (next one up from a port hole). The entertainment programmes were great and i recommend putting ur mum or dad in for the weakest link -lots of fun!

Public Areas
Public areas were kept very clean. Always someone around cleaning! The pools were salty which wasnt that tasty i can tell you! but if you have a wound (like my mum did) the salt water is very healing! otherwise bring goggles!!The areas around the pool were always busy unless thee was a popular excursion on a particular day! i found sitting up on the top deck (above pool deck) was better less crowded and you could watch the pool shows well! my favourite lounge was the 'OKLAHOMA' lounge, where the resident band and duo sung every night. They sung a rang of songs (up-to-date ones which i liked!) Neptunes disco was ok -great for us teens if you wanted a dance but the Oklahoma lounge provided that if you wanted to get away from the rest of the teens for a while. I found neptunes a bit 'spacey' though! The can-can lounge was very grand and a great place for shows!

Food and Service
We tended to only eat in one place the Seven Seas restaurant. This was very nice and the service could not be faulted -excellent! the waiters tended to your every need and in the evenings you sit on the same table and have the same waiters. This means you get to know your table mates and the waiters which was nice. The waiters sing for you in the evenings which is fun! We did go to the buffet for lunch two days but found that although you could wear what you wanted and had a lovely view of the ports (in particular i ate thee when we were sailing away from our first port...very nice!)its worth changing out of your swim wear and eating at the seven seas as the food it top quality!

Cabins
Our room (twin) was great! it had ample closet space as we thought we had brought too many clothers and thee was enough space for them all to be hung up!. I heard stories that the walls were thin and you could hear others -this was not true for us!The only thing i'll say is that the shower was a bit small and a full sized person (tall etc) may struggle, although it was fine for me! I would recommend a window as otherwise you wake up and you do not know if its day as its always dark (past experience!)

Entertainment
Shows were excellent at first although found the dancing & singing ones a bit 'samey'. you were so tired they did not really keep my attention, although were very skillful. The best evening entertainment was the comedian..so funny never ever seen someone so funny is name was 'dave evans' -great!This was all in the can can lounge. In the oklahoma lounge they put on the weakest link one night -i entered my mum -this was great!

Activities
We went to Bizerte, Cchitiveccia, Livornio, Villefranche, and Barcelona! I found thee was not enough time at the ports as you always felt a bit rushed !neva mind! Bizerte(Tunisia) was very dirty, not really much to see the excursion that day is to a top hotel..did not really fancy that so got off boat and had a look around nothing much to see. Chitiveccia -went to rome and seen sites very interesting although not recommended for young children a long hot day!, Livornio would have been good if it wasnt bank holiday and all the shops were closed! Ville France EXCELLENT -best port -went to monte carlo to see grand prix track etc!barcelona -shopping!

Who Goes
We made good friends with our table mates -(although have not swaped numbers). They were mainly English (lots), Scotish, Irish, Welsh, Scandinavian, and Canadians they, all very nice!
