Overview
This was our first cruise and we really enjoyed it. I don't think cruising is really suitable for young children (Under 6) although there were a few there. I don't think you would be able to relax properly, but the four of us, 50 years up, loved it.

Public Areas
Everything was kept spotless and was constantly maintained without it being a hindrance to passengers. We loved sunbathing on the top deck and were usually able to find sun loungers for the four of us. Towels were all provided so there was no need for me to take any! There were plenty of other areas with plenty of seating. The pools were very salty.

Food and Service
No need for anyone to go hungry on this trip! We varied the location for breakfast, sometimes the cafe and sometimes the dining room. The bacon in the dining room was less fatty - but there was a good choice to be had in either location. Lunch times were always in the cafe - various salads and/or choice of 4 meals with chips. Several choices of desserts or fruit salad. We felt a little cream would have gone down well with the fruit salad but this was not available. The rolls were delicious. Service was excellent and always presented with a happy smile. The Phillipino waiters and cabin stewards always looked happy in their work. Midnight buffets were superb and not to be missed - even if you just go to view.

Cabins
We were on Main deck, outside cabin and found it plenty big enough. The Can Can lounge was just round the corner but we never were disturbed by any noise from that or the engines. The walls are very thin though and you can hear your neighbours talking! Plenty of wardrobe space and no need to take extra hangers! The cabin steward, Sergio, kept it immaculate. The shower/toilet area was compact but roomy enough for u. Sergio kept us replenished with fresh towels twice daily! Shampoo, body lotion and shower caps were always available. Needed to buy an adaptor plug as you need flat pins not round which I took. You also need to take a travel hair dryer - conventional ones just don't work well - even with the adaptor.

Entertainment
Not as good as we'd been led to expect. We thought there could have been more variety. The shows in the Can Can Lounge were excellent but not enough of them. The Oklahoma lounge was mainly quizzes of some sort or ballroom dancing - not really our thing. Plenty of bars though if drinking is more your thing. The Chart Room was nice for a drink but was a bitty smelly for some reason.

Activities
Our cruise took us to Naples, Sicily, Malta, Tunisia, Menorca and back to Palma. We chose two half day excursions and found the guides a bit of a mixed bunch. Unfortunately, my mother and sister-in-law were allocated a different coach to us for their trip to Pompeii and didn't really enjoy it. Ours was very knowledgeable but a bit boring to listen to. Our guide for Tunisia, however, was excellent. Naples was a nerve racking experience as the drivers are all mad! Crossing the road was a death defying experience!

Who Goes
Mostly British, Scandinavians and Canadians. All we spoke to were very friendly although we were content in our group and didn't make any actual friends.
