Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
An impressive ship. I noticed the size of it more than anything. It was a lot bigger than other ships we've been on. We felt the space added to the enjoyment as it was like being on a huge hotel as opposed to a ship.

Public Areas
The can can lounge was great for the big shows. The oklahoma lounge was where they had the Butlins style entertainment. The chart room was lovely and a great place to have a nightcap.

Food and Service
The food has taken a definite downturn since we last came on an Airtours ship, but was plentiful. The midnight buffets seem to close way too early and we missed the Chinese buffet as we went to see a show and when we arrived at the buffet was told it was too late, even though the cruise director told us it would be open.

Cabins
Very small cabins but quite comfortable. Our cabin steward was wonderful. Nothing was too much for him and we gave a hefty tip. These people work so hard and are always happy and smiling. We could learn a lot from them.

Entertainment
The Production shows we're quite good although we hate to see people miming, I guess it's a sign of the times. The cruise director Jeff Eaton was appalling. His own show in the week was nothing but lavatory humour and spoiled a otherwise great night. We really enjoyed singer Jane Baoumont who was excellent, as was the comedian Andy Rudge who had the crowd rolling in the aisles. Leo Shavers billed as a comedy act was unfunny and tried to entertain us but didn't really succeed.

Activities
We visited St.Lucia, Grenada, Margaurita, Cuarcao and Aruba. We booked a tour on St. Lucia and it was very good except the price left us wincing. After that we decided to get taxis which were much cheaper. Aruba was by far the best of the islands and we'd never heard of it before. Our biggest regret was not being able to see anything of Barbados.

Who Goes
We had a nice time at dinner with some great company. We've done the exchange of numbers bit but have done it before and lost touch. We made several friends on the ship and look forward to our next holiday in a few months time.
