Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
If you remember that you are on an Airtours Cruise and that you are not on a Superliner most Brits will have a great time. The ship is cheap and cheerful and showing its age. This said it is clean and the crew work extra hard to make up for its downfalls. Access to certain areas could be a problem for people with walking difficulties.

Public Areas
The pools surrounding area is like a skating ring. We saw several people fall badly. Sunbathing areas are limited causing overcrowding on days at sea. The Clipper lounge is a good size for viewing the shows. The crows nest is large and fairly quite. The Piano bar is usually very busy. All are impeccably clean. Windows need replacing as are very stained by the weather.

Food and Service
All food was of a very good standard. One guest said the food got better each day. One dining room two sittings, polite service but always seemed rushed - 5 courses in 50 minutes the average on second sitting. Breakfast and lunch available either on deck or in the restaurant. Midnight buffets seen were nothing special.

Cabins
Quite small but adequate for the time you spend in them. Shower sufficient for a medium to large person ( I weigh 15 stone)Noise as you would expect for a moving thing. Enough closet space for 1 weeks clothes. Comfy double bed. Airconditioning was next to useless and very noisy when on full. No television and the worst piped music I have ever heard.

Entertainment
The cruise staff were absolutely brilliant and a special mention for the cruise director who was as funny as they come. Warning - He sometimes was a little close to the Knuckle and may have offended certain people. The two Uk entertainers were nothing to write home about. The dancers were as good as they come. Overall - excellent

Activities
Aegean adventure-All excursions are very over priced and it is a quarter of the price to hire a taxi and do the same itinerary and more fun. Volos was dreadful and is not included next year. Dikili was okay for half a day. Istanbul was an adventure not to be missed. Kusadasi was very tourist driven(Only half day). Rhodes is beautiful (Only half day) Brochure states 1 half day where in fact there are 3 half days. On ship there is plenty to do for all ages. Never really noticed the kids this was down to good parenting and good kids clubs. There is a movie shown every afternoon.

Who Goes
Average age 50 -60. A good percentage of Scandinavians. Met some really nice people and made 2 very good friends (Joe & Darren thanks for a great week) A lot of what I class as professional moaners who were a pain. We are middle 30's and met quite a few from this age bracket. Not recommended for clubbers. Drinks are quite pricey considering its duty free. Example Pint of stella #2, Half of Guinness #2.40, Vodka and coke #3.50, Can of coke 95p
