She originally entered service as the R2 for Renaissance Cruise Lines and began sailing for Oceania Cruises in July of 2003.
She and her sisters are oddities in new ship building in that they are not mega-ships nor are they yacht-sized. They occupy an interesting middle-ground at just over 30,000 tons. She is large enough to provide many of the services expected on upscale ships, but still small enough to visit many of the smaller ports around the world.
On board passengers have the choice of open-seating in any of her 4 restaurants: The Grand Dining Room, Toscana (Italian), Polo Grill (Black Angus Steakhouse), Tides Cafe. Other public rooms include a Showlounge Eight Bars, Observation Lounge, Casino, Spa, Fitness Center, Jogging Track, Beauty Salon, 2 Shops, Library, Card Room, Photo Gallery, 4 Elevators, Self Service Launderette, Medical Center, Internet Cafe.
Sixty-eight (68%) of her staterooms have private terraces. Cabins range in size from 158 for an inside cabin, to 322 square feet for a Penthouse Suite, to 962 square feet for the six Owner's Suites.
