This is something that anyone who wants a cruise on a classic should do. QE2 really is a very unique special ship. Do be aware that she is not for the party-hard person who wants a ship full of younger people. The average age on this cruise was 65+. Go on QE2 to be on QE2 - and take someone special with you!

The Queen's Room is lovely, with a nice royal blue and gold interior and a dance floor. As far as Bar's are concerned, the Crystal Bar is my favourite, near the restaurant I ate in. Also, the new Funnel Bar on Sun Deck is quite nice - lovely for sail away.

The food was better this cruise then any of the others I have done on QE2 (this is my 5th). It is slightly less rich with slightly smaller helpings but full of flavour and less likely to add pounds to the waist line. I ate in the Mauretania, which is charming. Originally designed for those guests paying Caronia prices (back during the 1994 refit) the restaurant now caters for us "M" Grade passengers which results in a first class dining experience & setting for tourist class prices. Very nice.

The cabin I had was 5165. We also had 5184 (travelling in a group.) 5165 was a fine outside M1 cabin - basic but comfortable. 5184 was a three berth room and was cramped for three people. Two would be fine but advise that for three berths you upgrade to Caronia class.

There was a variety of shows. 8 night cruise had 6 great shows, 1 average, and one disaster.
Cruise Director, Martyn Moss, was fantastic and a heap of fun - did a little stand~up routine every night after the show was very cool indeed.
There is plenty to do aboard QE2. I am an ocean liner buff so I love the history of QE2, and the other Cunard ships that have their stories in the Heritage Trail aboard QE2. She really is fantastic for anyone who wants a true ship with a virtual museum aboard.
As I said, on this particular cruise the age was really 65+. There were some younger families (kids age 8-12). I am 21 so didn't really make any close friends, except on the last few days with one of the girls working at the Spa aboard.
