Queen Elizabeth 2 is for a person who wishes to discover the real meaning of an ocean voyage. She is not one of these glitzy floating boxes. She is, however, stately.

The ship has changed a lot since my first time aboard. In 1999 they re designed much of her to give a more classy, mature appearance which echoes that of the great ocean liners of yesteryear. This re-fit has worked! Queen Elizabeth 2 looks amazing. New carpets have given a new sense of luxury to the corridors and passageways, and compliment the new wooden walls on all decks. The chairs in the lounges are very nice. Large blue chairs in the Queens Room are the best! There is a 360 degree promenade. The out door pool was closed for much of our journey as it was semi rough weather. However, open in the ports it was of very nice size. The casino is good, but took more tokens then it gave back - as they all do!

Food is always good on Queen Elizabeth 2.
Service is that which you would expect in the finest of hotels.
The Lido holds a "Midnight Snack" every night, a large number of people turn up to eat the night away.

Masses of closet space for the 8 nights I was aboard. I think that there would be enough for the full 105 days of the world cruise just so long as you packed sensibly!
Shower - the average person would have no problem at all with height.

In the Grand Lounge, there were some good shows, and others that didn't appeal to me. One night there was a comic and he was excellent. Opera was certainly very good but wont appeal to every one aboard. Fortunately on QE2 there is lots happening and if you don't like the show, there is a disco in the Yacht Club, and dancing in the Queens Room. Or, you can visit the Casino, watch a movie in the Cinema, Use the sports center etc etc.
Cruise staff seemed nice - there was always plenty on the agenda.
On board there is a full program of things to do. Ashore there is an option of a shore tour or you can make your own way around. Cunard provided a free shuttle bus in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Most the people on Queen Elizabeth 2 are 40+. If you are young, don't go on QE2 for the people, go for the ship and the experience. She is an amazing place to be. There was one other young passenger on the ship with me and we were instant friends. Most the crew are in their 20's so we were their best~friends for our 8 night cruise.
As I said, Queen Elizabeth 2 is an experience, she is a very special ship who will be treating people for many years to come!
